WHAT IS EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE (EPS)?

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is composed of 98% air making it a light weight shipping solution while providing superior cushioning and thermal insulating performance. EPS does not absorb moisture, water or most oils.  EPS is resistant to growth of bacteria and mold.  It is non-toxic.

EPS APPLICATIONS

Manufacturers prefer to use EPS because of its ability to minimize or prevent damage during shipping. Using EPS products for shipping food and pharmaceuticals also provides better thermal protection. Because of the cushioning, strength and thermal protection provided by EPS, the amount of products that end up in the landfill due to being broken, damaged or unusable may be greatly reduced. Some examples of the many applications for EPS are:

  • Frozen Meats, Hams and Poultry
  • Frozen Fish
  • Produce
